We the Alphabettes Mentorship Team, are very happy and proud to share the fantastic news. Tatiana López, from El Salvador and one of the very first Mentees, received the Beatrice Warde Scholarship 2020 awarded by Monotype and the Type Directors Club.
Back in 2017, she was matched with Petra Černe-Oven, designer, educator, author, and researcher from Slovenia, who continues to support Tatiana until now, enabling Tatiana to find her own way and pursue her career in type.
Tatiana writes, “…I’m taking this opportunity to say big thank you for the great and hard work all of you do for making this mentorship program happen. Petra has been a really big blessing in my life. She has been an important part of my design career.”

Tatiana’s 3D Origami paper project developed out of the idea to create tactile lettering. She continues to develop the alphabet into a Braille system.
Tatiana also creates intricate letterings.
